SLO County received $855,184 in federal grant money aimed at preventing homelessness.

The money was made available as part of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act signed into law last week. The funds will go toward financial assistance for individuals who have lost or are in danger of losing their homes.

“We are facing an unprecedented economic crisis that is hurting families up and down the Central and South Coast,” U.S. Rep. Lois Capps said in a news release.
