Calling all surfers, skaters, and filmmakers! Salty, an award-winning, locally produced short film, is stoked to announce the Stay Salty Surf and Skate Short Film Festival at the Bay Theatre, on Monday, Nov. 2 (5:30 p.m.; $10).
“For one night only, let’s celebrate surf and skate culture, our community, and independent film, while raising funds for the Morro Bay High School Surf Team,” organizer Josh Martin announced. “If you’ve created an amateur surf or skate film, submit your film for a chance to be screened.”
Or get busy making a film. You have seven weeks. The submission deadline is Monday, Oct. 19. Direct message @saltythemovie or email saltythemovie@gmail.com for a submission form.
“This event will also kick off the Kickstarter campaign for Salty, the feature-length movie,” Martin added. “Official selections will screen after an encore of Salty followed by award and prize announcements. Here’s the best part. Our official sponsors will be judging the films. They are Azhiaziam, Forever Stoked, Cayucos Collective, Shane Stoneman Surfboards, Wavelengths, The Craft Surf Supply, and CCS.”
The award categories include best surf film, best skate film, best trick, best cinematography, judges’ favorite, and an audience “Core Lord” award. There’ll also be merch booths at the event. ∆
