SLO police announced June 24 that Alvino Figueroa was removed from life support at Sierra Vista Hospital. Figueroa was walking in the 600 block of Higuera Street June 19 when he was hit by a vehicle turning onto Higuera from Broad Street.

Police arrested the driver of the vehicle, identified as 63-year-old Dennis Wittinghill of Los Osos, for a suspected felony DUI. Wittinghill later posted bail.
