New Times is retracting the cover story, “’Down for my hood,’” that was published on Oct. 26, 2011, about gang activity in Paso Robles and the death of Bryan Brady. The story contained gratuitous descriptions of violence, among other issues, and no longer abides by New Times Media Group’s ethics policy, which includes the concept of minimizing harm to victims, readers, and the public.
That policy, which was written in March 2023, includes the following statements: “Our goal is to minimize the harm we cause by the stories we tell. We are cognizant of the power we hold as a media organization and the impact we have on our sources, residents, and the community as a whole.”
We take journalistic ethics extremely seriously at New Times and believe that retracting the full story is the best course of action under the circumstances. We apologize for any harm we may have caused to the community and Bryan Brady’s family.

Hello everyone my name is raining Victor Rose aka Romeo I knew Brian Brady not as well as George Machado that was George Machado and Brian Brady were the closest people than anyone else they were best friends Brian Brady is nothing like a troublemaker but we all ran together even me call the group three Z’s and last time I saw Brian Brady was with a black dude named Langston Langston was a bad person everyone has warned Brian Brady to be careful Langston would stab people he would try to get things out of people in the last time that we heard a Brian Brady he was at the Mid-State Fair and left with Langston don’t know his last name I’ve been locked up incarcerated after everything and I could tell you the last person that I think that murdered Brian Brady was Langston and I ain’t the only one you could actually check thousands of people that knew Brian Brady very well Brian Brady was safe in Paso Robles cuz he was very well known he had no enemies he was a great kid he used to be in music he would dance he used to be one of my buddies and if anybody could find a black guy named Langston that would be the Killer he has pulled Knives Out on multiple people trying to stab multiple people and Paso Robles California last time I saw Langston he moved he moved out of Paso Robles after the murder nobody ever saw Langston ever again so as you could see when somebody runs he has to have a reason to why you’re leaving so soon when we all heard that Brian Brady is dead Langston was nowhere to be found if you don’t believe me you could ask Andrew I forgot his last name but I will grab everybody that knows Brian Brady I love Brian Brady he everyone used to save when a butterfly comes around and pass a Rebels there’s Brian and leave it all just represent that butterfly Brian Brady with his smile could change someone’s posture mood if they were down Brian Brady would pick him up Brian Brady was a great person and I want to help solve the case of the incident the last time I saw Brian Brady he gave me a hug and I saw him walking around with Langston if I ever see Langston again I’ll for sure get his last name because when I mentioned Brian Brady and I saw him in jail he looks scared as f*** sorry with my language but I know he had something to do with it I can feel it in my heart and my gut I walk with God and I always have everyone that is an underaged in me but above 18 years old of this time everyone knows who I am I fought for the people I would DJ and professionally dance in the gazebo of city park and the cops did not like it they hated it because there was no more arrests there were no more bad things going on and over 5,000 people filled out a form of their names liking that I play music at the city park and dance and give things like soccer balls footballs things to do positive because there was nothing to do and pass a Rebels California to stop them from doing drugs or doing bad things like g*********** I tried to do the bigger brother Club because I cared about everybody and I still do I’m still trying to change the way Society is Brian Brady always wanted to change the world I’m going to take on that Legacy that he wanted to do and I’m fighting for my life to fix it the way he wanted to fix it
