The six-week Open Mic Comedy Pop-Up Summer Series is coming to a close, but it’s not too late for budding comics or comedy lovers to be part of the fun. Join host Nevada Gibson on Sunday, Aug. 23, in SLO’s Krobar Craft Distillery.

Comics of all experience levels are invited to sign up for a 3-to-5-minute set starting at 5 p.m. The show will run from 6 to 8 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Gibson created the series to introduce audiences to new performers while helping restaurants, breweries, and cafés attract customers on traditionally slower evenings. She hopes to create an inclusive environment and especially encourage women and LGBTQ-plus comedians to participate.

Orcutt’s Giavanni’s Pizza, Lompoc’s Eye on I, Arroyo Grande’s Manrock Brewing, and A-Town’s Decades Hi-Fi Lounge have hosted previous events. Gibson is still trying to find a participating venue for one last event on Saturday, Aug. 29. She can be reached at nevada@nevadagibson.com. Follow her on Instagram @nevada_ for updates.

“Comedy brings people together,” Gibson said. “I wanted to create something that gives local comedians more stage time while also helping small businesses bring new customers through their doors. Above all, I love creating events for people to have fun and enjoy great food, drinks, and laughs.” Δ
