The League of Women Voters commends Dr. Sam Blakeslee and the Institute for Advanced Technology & Public Policy at Cal Poly for their work to increase transparency and accountability in state government through the Digital Democracy Initiative.

The Digital Democracy website, http://digitaldemocracy.org, now available in beta version, provides unprecedented public access to information on legislators, pending bills, committee work, political financing, and lobbyists. Users can search by legislator’s name, bill number, committee, and key words and phrases to find out what is going on in Sacramento.

The League of Women Voters is committed to encouraging the informed and active participation of citizens in government and public policy. Digital Democracy is an exciting new way for all of us to find the information we need to be responsible citizens and voters.
