In the last 40 years, the way that New Times gets put together may have changed, but our mission has remained constant. The vision of our late founder, Steve Moss, still drives us.

As Moss put it: “Assisting readers so they can better comprehend the community in which they live is our main role. There’s a lot of information out there coming at our readers from all directions. Our job is to take this information and turn it into knowledge.”

The information coming at you, dear readers, has multiplied exponentially. Moss insisted that we relay it in a thoughtful, sharp way—and invite all voices to weigh in.

New Times has done its best not to be harried in its coverage, not to get sucked into the digital hemisphere of breaking news, flurried social media clickbait, and opinionated journalism. And we aim to stay that way.

You’re the reason we’ve weathered the economic and political uncertainties. You’re the reason we continue to publish after all of these years. Thank you for being there for us. And I hope we will continue to do the same for you. ∆
