Too bad you don’t like roundabouts (“Wrongabout,” March 26). I like them. Especially, the new one in Avila Beach. It’s beautiful! Before that, it was very difficult and dangerous to try and make a left hand turn from Shell Beach Road onto Avila Beach Drive on the weekends. The traffic exiting from the freeway rendered it nearly impossible. So yes, I like the new roundabout.

Thank you for your weekly letter.

  1. I am not wild about the roundabout, but the stop signs that were intalled at the same intersection a couple of years ago were a big improvement in safety.

  2. Great letter, Dominique. The Europeans discovered long ago that roundabouts were a faster, safer way to move traffic. In many parts of Arizona, places that used to have lights or stop signs now have roundabouts and it makes for a far better driving experience. I hope that California continues to replace problematic areas due to high traffic congestion with roundabouts.
