Many thanks to Rita Casaverde’s New Times commentary (“Something to remember,” April 8) calling out Jordan Cunningham’s sardonic efforts at making fun of COVID-19. When I think of the hundreds of thousands who have suffered family deaths, illnesses, and long-term side effects due to COVID-19, I find Cunningham’s remarks beyond the pale. While he and his fellow Republicans attempt to thwart President Biden’s sincere attempts to make our country’s citizens safe by vaccinating enough people for us to achieve herd immunity, we all remain at risk due to their ignorance and conspiracy-loving ways. We expect our elected leaders to exercise sound judgment; Jordan Cunningham comes up short. Sadly, when it comes to people like him, COVID-19 may have the last laugh.

History will show that Jordan Cunningham, as usual, exorcized good judgement on Covid-19 and other issues. The problem with the whacky Alt Left is they are always searching for a way to bring down Assemblyman Cunningham, since they couldn’t do it at the ballot box.

Well said. Cunningham consistntly supports positions that are dangeous to our community. He also supported businesses, such as Kennedy Club Fitness, that flouted state and county mandates by illegally remaining open. Besides his COVID stance, he also supports keeping Diablo open.

Viruses are protein compounds that tell cells to take certain actions remaining in place mutating and hiding below the surface of our awareness until an opportunity allows the virus to disrupt cells.
So take care of each other without blaming politics or politicians.
The politics here is US taxpayer support for the Chinese biomedical laboratory that ‘leaked’ the virus in Wuhan, China.
Chinese politicians ought to be held accountable for a virus that has killed over 4 million human beings needlessly, and American politicians ought to be held accountable for failures at the local, state and national level in responding appropriately to the threat that Covid-19 posed to our people.
To advocate that politicians not be held accountable is a prescription for disaster, and, the fast=tracked development of an effective vaccine has largely allowed our society to reopen, and faxed people are significantly healthier for having gotten the shots.
We need a thorough investigation into the Chinese Communist party role in their military lab.
