The San Luis Obispo County supervisors and Public Works Department think they’ve talked enough about the Los Osos sewer. The problem is they’ve only talked about the wrong type of system, one that is unaffordable for most people in Los Osos, one that would not save our precious groundwater. The planned system will take too much energy to operate and the problem of removed sludge traveling throughout the county would be horrendous. When people are hanging on to their homes by a thread, it is outrageous to ask them to pay $200 or more monthly for a sewer bill. There are much less expensive systems available and the supervisors and Public Works Department know that.

Many counties elsewhere in California have installed greener and less expensive systems but our county insists on this type. Why?
