CLAYHOUSE 2007 PETITE SIRAH CENTRAL COAST

I enjoyed this delicious wine recently with winemaker David Frick, who said he strives to make it friendly. This easy-sipping wine has classic Petite Sirah flavors without the heavy tannins you get in most versions of this variety. This fruit-forward red wine tastes of plums, blackberries, and boysenberries, with the tang of cranberry notes. Subtly spiced with white pepper notes, too, it has two percent Syrah in the blend. It’s the type of wine you want with grilled lamb chops; penne with sausage, tomatoes, and olives; a meaty pizza; or cheeses like cheddar or semi-hard sheep’s milk. Now available at the tasting room, it’s $25 retail.
