The March 22 article, “Backlash,” needs clarification: San Miguel Community Services District General Manager Rene Salas’ contract was finalized June 29, 2011; his start date was Aug. 1.
San Luis Obispo County maintains a contingency that accounts for 4 percent of its budget, but the county also holds earmarked reserve funds. In total, the contingency fund and earmarked reserves account for about 20.8 percent of the budget.
