I don’t know why Hodin (Dec. 24) and the few taxpayers who scrutinize the SLO city government are concerned about the additional $30,000 the new city administrator, Katie Lichtig, will be paid annually. That amount will be dwarfed by the unpublicized severance package that was included in her contract. When she realizes SLO town is no Beverly Hills or even Malibu, she will go the way of the other upwardly mobile transplants from the big city. With her resume additionally padded and a new salary minimum—courtesy of our starry eyed departing administrator and his city council—she will shortly be off to join her husband back in the southland with a booty near half a million dollars, supplied by SLO town taxpayers.

For those who remember Wolfgang Knapp: Maybe she can get the remainder of our fire engines painted red before she leaves, a task he left unfinished after his short tenure.
