All the world’s a stage and all the dogs merely players. Wait, what? You heard right. The Central Coast Shakespeare Festival is continuing its summer season starring a rotund little rat dog with a rub-worthy belly made for the spotlight. Pack up a blanket and some snacks and venture to scenic Filipponi Ranch for The Winter’s Tale and The Two Gentlemen of Verona.

Yes, talented human actors also perform in the shows, the first of which is a comedy, tragedy, and romance rolled in to one, and the second of which is a total bromance. Seriously! You can find frenemies, bumbling outlaws, a cross-dressing heroine, and more shenanigans than you can shake a stick at in this early Shakespearian romp. The season runs through Aug. 8, so be sure to check out this new quirky and beautiful outdoor venue as it springs to life.

The Filipponi Ranch is at 1850 Calle Joaquin Rd., off of Highway 101 and Los Osos Valley Road in southern San Luis Obispo, near KSBY. In addition to the new performance venue, the ranch also is the home to two wineries, Filipponi Ranch Cellars and Clesi.

Tickets are $20 general admission, $10 for seniors, and children under 12 are $15. Pre-paid groups of 10 or more go for $15. For more information, visit centralcoastshakespeare.org
