Norman Mehl’s letter (“Jews are cleaner and smarter than Arabs,” Feb. 12) is nothing but a hateful and baseless rant against Arab people. It is foolish to blame the complex situation in Israel and Palestine on one broad and diverse group of people. Mehl says “Arabs preach hate to their children,” but it is Mehl who is blatantly preaching hate against Arabs. I hope Mehl’s letter doesn’t inspire more hateful prejudice. Instead I hope his letter provides an example of ignorance that inspires people to act differently and learn all they can about a situation before forming an opinion.
