BECKMEN 2009 ROSé OF GRENACHE PURISIMA MOUNTAIN VINEYARD

A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO FILM FESTIVALS: Jonathan Sobol’s A Beginner’s Guide to Endings screens at Downtown Cinemas on Thursday, March 10, at 7 p.m. For tickets, more information, or for a full SLO Film Festival schedule, visit slofilmfest.org.

This lovely, dry pink wine is bright and effusive in its layers of flavors. A blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, and Syrah, this cranberry-hued Rosé has a range of red and dark fruit flavors of strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, and cranberry, highlighted with subtle notes of spice and minerals. Vintner Stephen Beckmen designates special blocks in his certified biodynamic Purisima Mountain Vineyard to this special Rosé. Each year the grape clusters are hand selected at lower sugar and higher acid levels to retain its bright fruit character. It’s great alone and excellent for bouillabaisse, paella, or chicken, cranberry, walnuts, and goat cheese salad. It’s available at Tastes of the Valleys Pismo Beach for $15.99, or Beckmenvineyards.com for $18 retail.
