Being a city resident, I want to urge the San Luis Obispo City Council to save money (having just spent so much on Stew Jenkins’ fees) and move forward with the appointment process on Feb. 5.
The council could make this very simple by following past practice and appoint whomever the runner up was in the past election, if that person applies.
Kathy Smith, Jan Marx, and John Ashbaugh all voted for the appointment of the runner up in 2010, who happened to be Dan Carpenter. It’s time for Dan—and the rest of the members—to do it again, save money, acknowledge the voters, and move forward.
