I have never understood the MAGA movement. Make America great again? America has always been great. I should know. I have been to at least 50 countries and all 50 states. While America may need to be tweaked once in a while as democracy is dynamic, she does not need to be destroyed, as Trump and the GOP want to do, only to start over.
We solved the problem of bowing down to the king in the 1770s, and I am not about to bow down to someone who wants to be a king or dictator. The reason so many people want to come to America is because of its greatness. She has provided freedom and opportunity for so many and continues to do so. We have shown our strength when necessary and kindness to so many all over the world.
Keep our democratic republic. America has done so well for way more than 200 years with that system because it works.

Not intending to speak too forcefully, (I’m an “independent”) it appears weaponization of our federal agencies to prosecute their political opponents, the amazingly deep censorship provided by the FBI’s interference with social media companies both currently and in connection with the last election, prosecution of parents at school board meetings and FBI investigations of Catholic churches, and the attempts by several states to remove a political candidate from the ballot on visibly absurd arguments, suggest it is the current Federal and State administrations which oppose “democracy.” I don’t intend this to be one sided. It is the nature of governments to expand their power, in any way they can. It is consequently the duty of citizens to contain that growth. Yes, America is a wonderful country, but it will not remain so if we fail to address the growing tyranny of Washington DC. I suspect the greatest support for the “MAGA” movement is from folks who fear our government has become too powerful.

So, Trump did not interfere with the election in Georgia, despite reams of evidence indicating just that? Trump did not hold a rally at the national mall and whip up a crowd of supporters to attack the Capitol, despite reams of evidence indicating just that? Trump didn’t hoard sensitive government documents even after being asked repeatedly to return them, despite reams of evidence indicating just that. And Trump didn’t sexually assault that lady in an NYC dressing room, despite a jury of his peers concluding he did that very thing.
Got it.
