Marissa’s (Sarah Snook) world turns into a nightmare when she shows up at the address provided by fellow mom, Jenny (Dakota Fanning), to pick up her young son, Milo (Duke McCloud), from a first-time play date. However, the nice older woman at the door (Linda Cropper) has no idea what Marissa is talking about, and Jenny is adamant she didn’t arrange a playdate at all. Everything was done via text, and soon Marissa and her husband, Peter (Jake Lacy), come to the earth-shattering revelation that their soon to be 5-year-old child has been kidnapped, and they’re hours behind whoever took him.

What follows is a miniseries detailing their discovery of who Milo’s kidnapper is and what the young woman’s motivations are. Marissa is falling apart, and Peter seems to be involved in some shady business that may or may not have something to do with the crime.
Tense and truly surprising, this miniseries brings us into both the desperate parents’ world and the kidnapper’s world, motivations, and her own desperate attempt to make Milo hers. Meanwhile, Peter’s dark secret also comes out. This series is sure to scratch the itch of crime drama fans. I was guessing until the end. (eight 46- to 56-min. episodes) ∆
