At around 2 p.m. on Jan. 14, a single-engine plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean about a mile from the Oceano coastline.

A multitude of agencies responded to the site and began conducting a search. According to San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tony Cipolla, a dive team did find airplane debris, but no aircraft was discovered, and no bodies were recovered that night.

The search was suspended due to darkness, and resumed on the morning of Jan. 15 as this paper was going to press. New Times will post more information on the web as it becomes available.
