The three SLO County Board of Supervisors government obstructionists did it again. Instead of appointing the current deputy clerk recorder to fill the vacant SLO County clerk-recorder position, they want to open it up for their review of candidates. They want their hand-picked interim candidate for an elected position.
They expect to get candidates from all over the state. Who would apply for this temporary position, since it is just that, an interim position. All this delay costs taxpayer money.
Fourth District Supervisor Lynn Compton said she doesn’t personally know the current deputy clerk. Don’t know her? She works in her building. Why didn’t she review Helen Nolan’s qualifications or even sit down and talk with her? Duh.
The Board of Supervisors is supposed to be nonpartisan. All these three do is vote for a fearful, right-wing agenda. They couldn’t see past that May meeting with all the out-of-area calls and attack on the Clerk-Recorder Tommy Gong?
Good news: Those of us in District 4 get a fresh, honest choice next year by voting for Jimmy Paulding to replace Compton. We need to restore smart, intelligent-run government with no hidden agendas.

I DISAGREE with Linda Reynolds!
The SLO County Board of Supervisors made the correct decision in opening up the county clerk-recorder position to ALL, the extreme left had a handpicked candidate that they wanted the board to anoint, but political posturing only goes so far.
These alt-left extremist have probably hurt their chosen candidate, Helen Nolan, chances of ever getting the top job.
Linda Reynold’s true motivations for this letter may have been her parting jab at 4th district Supervisor Lynn Compton. Ms. Compton is being challenged next year by Little Jimmy Paulding, a so-called “progressive” politician who seeks to impose more government control over the rest of us. Let’s show our strong support for Lynn Compton and turn back the extreme left’s attempt to control the SLO County board of supervisors. Mr. Paulding has failed the taxpaying public on a number of issues and he cannot be trusted in an elected position.
Vote for Responsible Government in 2022/2024.

Helen Nolan may very well be a strong, capable candidate for the position of Clerk/Recorder, but when I read the strident demands by local lefties that she be summarily appointed without the customary consideration of other candidates, I become a little wary. Why is the left so insistent that only she be considered?
