When Jimmy Paulding announced his candidacy for San Luis Obispo County 4th District Supervisor Lynn Compton’s seat, I was intrigued. He seemed like a nice young man on his way up with a good gift of gab. But after finding out that Supervisors Adam Hill and Bruce Gibson were pushing his candidacy, the blush went off the rose.

Paulding’s parroting of the Gibson/Hill agenda evaporated my interest in his candidacy. Consider these truths:

• Paulding supports state regulation of our local groundwater, while Compton successfully retained local control of our precious water resources.

• Compton’s cautious approach to regulating an emerging cannabis industry was resisted by the Hill/Gibson cabal that sided with carelessly expanding cannabis operations countywide regardless of the consequences.

• Paulding supporters blame Compton for the Phillips 66 rail spur project when she cast the deciding vote against it.

• Compton effectively secured $1.5 million for South County parks after discovering Gibson/Hill had hijacked nearly $10 million of development impact fees generated in the South County for projects in their own districts.

Hill and Gibson will do anything to defeat Compton in seizing power for themselves. The perils of Paulding are there for all to see. Let’s keep an effective Lynn Compton as our supervisor.

  1. Letter writer Phyllis Stout should be ashamed of herself. Her vicious, unprincipled and innaccurate attack on one of the finest political candidates to emerge in local politcs is a perfect example of why so many voters are joining the county-wide Republican/Democratic coalition to elect independent-minded Jimmy Paulding to the county board of supervisors.

Paulding has the skills, relevant work experience, and professional decorum to calm the local political waters and bring commonsense leadership to the board for the sake of all.

Phyllis Stout owes a huge public apology to Mr. Paulding and all SLO county voters who want positive change to our community and politics.

Do the research, meet the man and like so many others in San Luis Obispo County, you will be eager to see Jimmy Paulding bring a fresh attitude and fresh ideas to the county Board of Supervisors.

  2. Don’t believe the partisan lies from political hacks who fear that the voters will have a clear choice this time around.

Jimmy Paulding is an INDEPENDENT voice worthy of support from Arnold, Peschong, Compton, Gibson and Hill. They all realize he is the most formidable and prepared candidate to run for the Board in decades.

Bottom line is that the most effective and easiest way to restore order, civility and BENEFICIAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS to our County Board of Supervisors is to join the grass-roots county-wide Republican and Democratic Coalition supporting Jimmy Paulding for Supervisor. More than ever, we need Mr. Paulding’s strong, moderating voice on the Board. Perhaps even mores so, the public needs a fresh Board member who has the education and real-world experience to get the job done in a common-sense and respectful manner.

Compare the other candidates and present Board members. NONE of them have the high degree of real world,. relevant experience AND the superior level of educational acomplishments that make Jimmy Paulding the ideal candidate to help bring our Board and our community come together for progress and prosperity during these troubled, angry times.

It is time for voters to set aside partisan bickering and elect the best most qualified candidates who care about the success of the entire community, rather than simply themselves and their small band of behind the scenes backers.

Jimmy Paulding is an antidote to the poison we have all seen and felt infecting our local communities in the past few years. Let’s hope the public recognizes this and does the right thing.

  3. Phyllis Stout is so far out in wrong field in her letter, you cant even see her tail lights. On groundwater, Compton voted to charge South County taxpayers MILLIONS for a water management study of North County groundwater areas that the North County users had already agreed to pay for. Thats right folks, North County Big Ag had ALREADY AGREED to pay for this water study, as it concerned North County water. Seems the right thing to do. Then Compton and her buds came along and essentially said, Thats ok Big Rich Friends, we’ll make the little guy pay for your water studies. Guess who’s going to be grateful when campaign contribution time comes??? Yep, those Big Rich Friends of hers.
And she was for the Oil Trains, until she saw the massive public opposition to the project and Supervisor Peshong had to recluse himself from the vote (due to oil money involvement) and thus it would be a tie vote no matter. And the Parks fiasco – in short, she didnt do the planning, didnt do the work, didnt make it happen and big Surprise – no parks happened. If you dont submit plans for parks, parks dont get built. Not rocket science. So she creates this big Political Fiasco when if she had done the plans, and done the work, the parks would be done now. But she didnt, and the are not.
