While I am not disabled, I served 30 years in the California National Guard and the Navy and Army Reserves. I spent several training periods at Camp SLO—especially my California Military Academy field exercises (OCS) and graduated OCS there in 1985.
Many military retirees and those with military related disabilities are living on low and very low incomes. The importance to them to have access to inexpensive housing may make the difference for some between becoming homeless or not.
I could end up in this kind of situation myself someday.
