Shame on you, members of the SLO City Council, who didn’t listen to the commonsense proposal made by the mayor and chose instead to levy a monetary burden on the citizens by voting to hold a special election costing $65,000.
Didn’t you hear about the decision made by the Grover Beach City Council? “… appointing the new council member will expedite the replacement process and save the city the estimated $30,000 a special election could cost.”
Or that the Santa Maria council asked for applications to fill their vacancy?
I totally disagree with the Tribune’s editorial (“Special elections might be best in SLO and Grover,” Feb. 4) as this money could have and should have been spent on street repairs and other infrastructure throughout the city of SLO.
