I keep hearing Democrats saying the Republicans are trying to strip the people’s right to vote away but never hear the specific items they are doing to accomplish this. So, Quinn Brady, could you tell the people exactly what they are doing that you feel is stripping people’s voting rights (“Not everyone is free,” July 8)? Let’s take Delaware’s (Biden’s home state) voting laws and compare it to, say, Texas, and tell us which one has more voter restrictions. Also, do you believe a person should show an ID to verify they are legally eligible to vote or not? Almost everyone has to have an ID to drive, get welfare/food stamps, unemployment, pay taxes, fly on a plane, and numerous other things, so why do the Democrats keep saying to require an ID to vote is racist against the Black, Hispanic, and other poorer people? And yes, years ago we took land from the Indians, had slaves, but we can’t hold the people today responsible for the action of others in the past, but we should learn from it and do better for all the people no matter what race they are as they are all Americans. Can’t wait to hear your response if they will even print this.

It appears that 68% of members of minority groups prefer voter ID requirements. In response to this recent polling, Jim Clyburn asserted that he has ALWAYS supported voter ID (which is a remarkable reversal from 6 months before).
The Democrat talking points about voter suppression are reflected in their draft HR 1, which provided that criminal penalties would lie against any vote administrator who challenged any person’s right to vote regardless of foundation.
HR 1 was essentially an attempt to enable widespread voter fraud and the legislation was a terrible admission of support for corruption in their political strategies. Even many Democrats wouldn’t support it.
It is revealing that Democrats apparently recognize that they can not win elections without voter fraud. Not enough people are willing to buy into their destructive lunacy.
Donegan said, “It is revealing that Democrats apparently recognize that they can not win elections without voter fraud.”
So, where exactly is this voter fraud, Mr. Donegan? I have seen no evidence of such. Sure, there are minimal examples of irregularities in every state, but where is this widespread fraud that could have caused the Democratic candidate for President to win some SEVEN MILLION votes more than his rival?
In fact, I have been voting in this nation since 1968 and I have never seen any credible evidence of voter fraud. There were issues in the 2000 Florida presidential election but it wasn’t because of voter fraud. Over those 53 years both Republicans and Democrats have won elections—2020 was no different.
What the Republicans and Mr. Trump are selling is not particularly palatable to Americans at this time and so they lost. I never heard a candidate speak of voter fraud until Trump did it in 2016 when he thought he would lose. What’s pathetic about is it that so many one-time sensible conservatives have swallowed his bilge.
As for the letter, yes, indeed Delaware has restrictions, but these restrictions have been around for decades, a product of machine politics when bosses wanted to mobilize voters on the same day. What has been done in Georgia, Texas and other states is simply a solution looking for a problem. The Republican Secretary of State in Georgia reported no fraud, and that was after three recounts. The Republicans’ motive is certainly to suppress the vote among minorities, disabled, college students and the elderly.
Another difference is that legislators in Delaware are not against reforming their system. HR1 goes for blue states as well as red states. And if you don’t like HR1, what about the offering from Joe Manchin? It contains voter ID, but it also opens up more days for voting and expands vote by mail. It used to be that Republicans loved absentee voting. In deep red Utah, the entire state votes by mail and there has never been any reports of fraud.
The Democrat Party always seems to be up to some sordid scheme, I am tired of it.
Oh, wait, my sincere apologies to Mr. Donegan. There was voter fraud in the 2020 election.
According to the Associated Press, the state of Wisconsin, which Joe Biden won by 20,000 votes, reported they have found 27 cases of suspected voter misconduct out of MORE THAN THREE MILLION VOTES cast in the state.

Again, my apologies.
