Don't glamorize graffiti

Cayucos

I was disgusted to read your repeated term “work” to describe the blatant vandalism of that soak-scum you call an “artist” (“The writing on the wall,” Oct. 16). Yes, some graffiti can be art, but spraying your name on very public buildings and signs like the Home Depot (and I am no fan of Home Depot) is nothing less then vulgar trash. And our tax money goes to clean up that crap, while much needed programs are being cut. I don’t think you should be encouraging kids to do this by glamorizing scum like “SOAK.”

  • It's good for the community, and we should have more of it.
  • Public art is an eyesore and a waste of public funds.
  • Such projects are good, but residents should have more say in where and what they are.
  • I don't care about public art.
