Phony prescription leads to arrests 

Two women were arrested after one allegedly forged a prescription slip and another allegedly tried to use it at a local pharmacy to obtain the painkiller Vicodin.

Kathy Joy Peters, 39, a current employee with the San Luis Obispo County Mental Health Services Department, is charged with two felonies, including forging a prescription slip and giving it to Kelly Aggson, 41, who is charged with obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, also a felony.

Aggson has since pleaded no contest and was placed in a deferred judgment counseling program. Peters is set for further arraignment on July 22.

According to the police report, on June 10, officers responded to a call from the Rite Aid in Atascadero. The two suspects were arrested on site and booked into county jail. SLO County Human Resources Director Tami Douglas-Schatz confirmed Peters is on paid administrative leave pending her July 22 arraignment.
