Warren Jensen is calling it quits.
The 26-year San Luis Obispo County veteran will be retiring from his post as county counsel on Sept. 29.
“I’ve been very appreciative of the opportunity to be county counsel and work with just an outstanding group of people here in the office as well as around the county,” Jensen told New Times.
Deputy County Counsel Rita Neal is slated to move up a slot and take over Jensen’s position. The Board of Supervisors appoints its county counsel to four-year terms. County supervisors are expected to appoint Neal to the position June 19, and she’ll start the job Sept. 30.
Neal has worked with the county since 1998 after leaving her previous job in private practice.
“I’m just really honored and humbled by the trust and confidence that the board has placed in me,” she said.
