Jean Wyly

Owner of J&J Riding

NEW TIMES: What horseback riding tours do you offer?

WYLY: Our rides are typically an hour and 15 minutes long, and are available to a wide assortment of riders. There are no age limits, and we offer rides for beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders. One of the tours we offer starts along the coast in Los Osos, and we ride into Montana de Oro.

NEW TIMES: Do you offer specials for large groups or families?

WYLY: We do. Typically a tour costs $65 per person; however, for a group of six or more, we charge only $55 per person.

NEW TIMES: What about lessons for people who’ve never ridden?

WYLY: I give a little lesson to everyone right before the ride, but for the most part there’s not much that needs to be taught to our guests. Our horses are very well trained.

NEW TIMES: Are any other discounts scheduled?

WYLY: Yes. I’ll soon offer a summer special for our horseback riding tour at $60 dollars per person.

NEW TIMES: What do you enjoy most about your horseback rides?

WYLY: Our tours are by reservation, so there’s no waiting. Customers are free to roam on the open beach and can ride at a trot, gallop, or canter. Overall, the freedom we allow the riders is one of the greatest perks.
