On Sept. 26, J. Efrain Gonzalez Albor pleaded guilty to murdering his son Edgar David Gonzalez Marquez. Albor has been in custody since the stabbing occurred in late January.
On Jan. 31, J. EfraÃn Gonzalez Albor hid in the Avila Beach house of his estranged wife, Maria de los Angeles Marquez Ruiz, and their son. Albor then attacked his wife and son with a kitchen knife, accusing them of having a sexual affair. Marquez died and Albor fled but was quickly caught.
Albor later confessed to a Tribune reporter that he killed his son. Albor pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon. In the plea deal, prosecutors dropped the charges of violating a restraining order and burglary. Albor will be sentenced Oct. 24.
