There is no fracking in San Luis Obispo County, and even Measure G supporters will admit that the county’s geology doesn’t support fracking. What Measure G will do is shut down existing oil and gas production in San Luis Obispo County, along with the jobs, tax revenue, and economic activity it supports.

Measure G would lead to the loss of 230 good-paying jobs directly related to oil and gas production in SLO County—and even more jobs in local businesses that depend on the oil and gas industry. Those jobs are vital to the people who hold them and the families that depend on them. It’s baffling that Measure G activists are willing to sacrifice those jobs to ban something—fracking—that isn’t happening in SLO County.

Oil and gas produced here is consumed here in California—not exported abroad. Shutting down oil and gas production here will increase our dependence on imported foreign oil from countries with poor environmental and human rights regulations. Oil and gas produced in SLO County is done so under the highest regulations in the world. Let’s keep it local. Vote no on Measure G!

  1. Just about all lies! We are being bombarded with lies and over 4 million dollars…..that’s right $4,000,000 worth of lies and deceit brought to us by the oil companies themselves. Prop G does not kill jobs in any industry…..except for the future! We don’t need more “OIL INFRASTRUCTURE” or more oil for that matter. The oil that is being pumped from the ground here goes up north to be refined and then out to auction…..not used here like Joanie here would like you to believe. Don’t let $4,000,000 dollars worth of lies and BS get you to vote no on G! I personally don’t want to wake up one day and see oil derricks being built off the coast in Pismo Beach, Shell Beach, Avilla Beach, Los Osos, Cayucos, Morro Bay or Cambria!

  2. For those of you who are under the impression that oil magically appears where wells are drilled, I’m sorry to say that whoever told you that lied. There has to be oil there in the first place, which is why a majority of the comment above is irrelevant…

  3. I have just a couple of questions about Ms Brown’s letter. Will Sentinel Peaks close down their operation if the measure passes? Why? To punish their employees and lose money? And why would Chevron donate four million to prevent a ban on fracking when the geology doesn’t support fracking? ……especially since Chevron doesn’t have one well in our county.
The greatest real threat to our countie’s economy is, if Measure G passes the oil companies might sue us for not letting them endanger our water. First lies, then blackmail. Lets show some backbone and say no to them. Vote yes on Measure G

  4. Big Oil is wasting 500 Millions of Gallons of our precious, scarce water per year. How many more gallons will they waste if they expand? And it all goes to Big Oil’s Profits. Does anyone remember our recent drought? Vote Yes on G

  5. Well all you No G votes, wait until we have a major environmental disaster like Santa Barbara or our ground water is contaminated, then you will cry foul! The potential oil drilling off our beautiful coast will be tragic. The No votes are about greed and financial interests, isn’t it about time to start thinking about our natural resources and protecting our county. People come to visit and are impressed by the beauty and splendor of our coast and open spaces, yet now we are ready to prostitute it rather than protect it. SHAME ON “NO” and shame on big oil companies…..5-7 million dollars spent to deceive us….really!

  6. “…isn’t it about time to start thinking about our natural resources…”

Yes, this is about our natural resources…
