Can’t make it to the polls on Nov. 2? No problem. The San Luis Obispo County Elections Division is allowing voters to cast a ballot on Oct. 30 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
County Clerk-Recorder Julie Rodewald said the office holds the extra hours every year to allow voters who are unavailable on election day to cast their ballot.
Rodewald estimates this election could actually draw a healthy crowd of voters. With the gubernatorial race on the ballot, she said it should draw at least 60 percent of registered voters. But the office is “seeing a lot of activity” and Rodewald said there might be as high as a 70 percent turnout or more. About 37,000 of the roughly 84,000 mail-in ballots have already been returned. Mail-in ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on election night.
Many polling places have changed, so elections officials urge voters to check their sample ballots, call the office at 781-5228, or look up their location at slocounty.ca.gov/clerk.
