It you’re looking for organic wines of good quality at fair prices, this Washington state winery produces an excellent lineup. This one is 100 percent Merlot from organic vineyards in the Horse Heaven Hills appellation. This deep purple wine is rich, easy sipping, and food friendly. It has aromas and flavors of black cherries and blackberries, nicely nuanced with notes of spice and oak. Pair it with casual meals: poultry with cranberry sauce, barbecued beef or chicken, or a good cheeseburger. It scored 88 points and a “best value” rating from Wine Spectator’s critics, and it’s a very good buy at $13.99 retail at BevMo! in SLO.
