When you think of burgers, you probably think mostly of fast food, or at least something pretty straightforward. At Wee Shack, however, a burger isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience.
Located in Morro Bay, Wee Shack truly has it all. It serves breakfast and dessert as well as its main menu, has a great beer selection, provides free Wi-Fi, and even has a patio, making the restaurant dog friendly. That’s not to mention their customer service, which can’t be beat. Every time I’ve been, the employees have been friendly, enthusiastic, and attentive, even when they’re busy.
Though Wee Shack is most well known for its “Wee-Man Burger,” which contains jalapeño bacon, every burger on its menu will blow you away with its high quality and spark of uniqueness. Even the chili cheeseburger, which sounds relatively standard on paper, drips with grated cheddar cheese and chili that tastes homemade. In fact, it requires the use of a knife and fork. Best of all, there is always a “burger of the month” which usually has an extra special gimmick. My personal favorite was one from a few years ago that contained kettle chips and barbecue sauce. I still dream about that burger occasionally.
As for the rest of the menu, if you’re not in the mood for a burger, there is also a variety of hot dogs, salads, and sliders available, as well as chicken strips and chili. For breakfast, you can choose between a “breakfast burger,” breakfast burritos, or a cinnamon roll. And never fear, those of you with dietary restrictions: This restaurant does indeed have vegetarian and gluten-free options.
The next time you’re passing through Morro Bay and need somewhere to grab a bite to eat, I cannot recommend Wee Shack enough. The name may be Wee, but the quality of the food and the experience is huge.
