County Supervisor Adam Hill concluded his recent spoof opinion piece concerning “Agenda 21” with enlightenment about “unintended benefits of pollution and drought” (“Agenda 21 and me,” July 4).
Although I am not yet enlightened, I do see benefits of diversion tactics to those who place agendas for personal aggrandizement ahead of the common good (including theirs). Citing a non-binding 1992 plan of the United Nations as the basis for not prudently managing local resources, which are basic to our health, welfare, and safety, apparently is in the same arsenal as tactics hurled at the county’s “smart growth” policies.
