I’ve been a subscriber to KCBX ever since they had an upstairs office on Monterey Street. I supported a community-centered station manned mostly by volunteers who played programs unavailable on commercial radio and news rarely heard without insulting sales pitches.

An important aspect of local news was the live weekly board of supervisors meeting. I was not a regular listener, but did tune in when an important event was being discussed. I was also informed of issues during public comment period.

After the supervisors were dropped from broadcasting, we were promised a local reporter who would also be our ears at board meetings. So far, it’s been just talk.

I am withholding my pledge until I hear a real report. No more Lucy and her football.
