Marta Peluso, executive director of ARTS Obispo, the San Luis Obispo County Arts Council, has stepped down from her position, the organization recently announced. She plans to leave at the end of May 2011.
Peluso has led ARTS Obispo since January 2006, and had a hand in many countywide arts programs. Poetry Out Loud reaches 1,900 high school students across SLO County; and Open Studios Art Tour, now free to the public, has become the county’s biggest public-access arts program. At her suggestion, the Arts Council adopted the name ARTS Obispo. During her tenure, ARTS Space Obispo was also established as a venue for art shows, talks, workshops, and more.
“It has been a great honor to serve with so many talented and dedicated board and staff members in building this organization and helping the arts flourish in San Luis Obispo County,” Peluso said in a news release.
