August 6 is the 64th anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. In remembrance of the victims not only of Hiroshima and Nagasaki but of all wars, the San Luis Obispo Mothers for Peace,  along with Code Pink, will hold a vigil at Mission Plaza. The short vigil will be held on Thursday, Aug. 6, at 6 p.m. Following the vigil  there will be a collection of signatures on a petition asking Congress to declare Aug. 6 Nuclear Disarmament Day. Mothers for Peace and Code Pink will be collecting the signatures from a table at Farmers Market. The petition drive, which is a nationwide effort, is  sponsored by the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom. Please join us for the vigil and look for the table at Farmers Market.
