There will be at least two new names on upcoming local ballots.
Jan Howell Marx has decided to run for election to the San Luis Obispo City Council, and Melody Demeritt is running for mayor of Morro Bay.
Marx has served as City Council member, city planning commissioner, and county parks and recreation commissioner.
Demeritt was elected as a council member in 2004 and will challenge incumbent Mayor Janice Peters.
