I have to agree with Mr. Peabody (“It’s all about humanity, March 3-10) — it is a curious question why the chief investigator for the Planning and Building Department is “stepping up to the plate for what is a health and human services issue.

It doesn’t surprise me, however; being the mother of an adult bipolar son, I have for about 10 years been encountering the insurmountable problems plaguing mental-health issues and possible solutions.

All that aside, my question to Councilwoman Mulholland is: What solutions have you come up with in helping our mentally ill and homeless population? At least Dan DeVaul has offered and achieved some answers for this segment of our population. He may be responsible for “thumbing his nose at the law, but she seems to be thumbing her nose at the mental illness epidemic infiltrating not only our county, but our country.
