After reading numerous letters to the editor attacking the Republicans or the Democrats, I believe that both parties share responsibility for our past and current situations. The recent election in San Luis Obispo made me realize that not everyone feels the need to promote their own political party agenda.

Sometimes candidates have only a desire to do what’s best for their community. City Council candidate Paul Brown refused to accept money from any special interest group; he refused to attack his opponents even when one of them waged a personal attack on him. While at times we had very different views, Paul was a candidate that always listened.

Paul Brown ran a clean campaign and unfortunately lost. It’s still nice to know the world still has good guys even if the good guy doesn’t always win. Paul, you will always be a good guy. Remember that this “former” Democrat will always be in your corner.
