Californians can be proud that our state Senate has passed SB 562, the Healthy California Act. Known as Medicare for All, if the bill clears the state Assembly, all Californians will be able to choose their own medical, dental, vision, and hearing providers with no out-of-pocket costs or insurance premiums.
The time is right to rebalance the scales where profit and greed have outweighed compassion and ethics in determining health care policy. The program will be tax supported, with a recently published economic analysis by the University of Massachusetts outlining an overall cost savings by both individuals and businesses. The study details how our increase in tax payments will be less than the insurance costs we now pay.
Please contact your representatives and urge them to support the bill as it works its way through the legislative process. We can all take a stand for human rights, fairness, and equality.
