This week, our congressional representative, Jimmy Panetta (California’s 19th Congressional District), did not directly respond to questions about whether he supports impeaching Trump.
This is upsetting, and I regret seeing this lack of foresight and leadership from my district’s representative.
As a concerned citizen and voter from Paso Robles, it’s obvious to me that Trump is leading the country into authoritarianism. Hyperbole about the danger of his administration, from immigration to the economy, has become reality.
He and his cabinet are lawless, unaccountable to our justice system, and have committed a multitude of crimes. If we don’t impeach him now, American democracy may not survive his path of destruction.
I’m not willing to risk that.
I am encouraging Congressman Panetta to clearly and publicly commit to upholding this most fundamental democratic role—removing tyrants from office, and hope to hear from him soon.

Maria:
And then what, put another tyrant back in office from the other party? The new tyrant may use kinder language, but do you really expect a new tyrant from the other side to remove the US Army from our southern border? That’s a popular policy, people want the U.S. to defend its open southern border from hordes of people from all over the world, not going through the proper administrative process, and then contributing to the insane competition for rental units and jobs. Further, many are from one of our biggest economic rivals or a middle eastern country we’ve been at war with for years. Who are these people and who is say their intentions are benign? If a president from the other party took office, they’d be voted out at the first opportunity should they return to the catastrophe at our border that has been going on for decades.
Next, do you think the next tyrant, wearing a suit, would magically make our economy work by simply removing tariffs? Do you think they’d simply return all the fired federal workers? We still have a massive budget deficit even with them gone. Factories aren’t coming back and wages are crap.
I’m sorry, sweetie, but our goose is cooked. It was fun while it lasted. Id recommend stocking up your pantry, you’re going to need it. I sure have. Must haves include a dough mixer, bread machine, and crock pot.
We’re in a full blown depression and don’t expect it to be announced, instead, it’s going to be full on denial from authority figures. Your pension and 401ks are toast. There’s no coming back. College graduates have no future nor do young people or the aged. Your government is your enemy and the dollar has lost all purchasing power thanks to bailout after bailout.
