When’s the last time you went to the opera? That’s what I thought. Get your cultural big kid pants on, grab a pair of binoculars, and check out Opera San Luis Obispo’s upcoming performances, Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci showing Oct. 10 and 11 at the SLO Performing Arts Center.

The citywide arts collaboration features the Central Coast Children’s Choir, Civic Ballet of SLO, CORE Dance Company, Deyo Dances, Opera SLO, Resonance Vocal Ensemble, and Studio at Ryan’s American Dance. The performance celebrates Opera SLO’s 30th anniversary.

Both operas are set in rural southern Italy in the 1880s and are full of “sweeping melodies, gripping passion, love, jealousy, betrayal, and revenge.” Whatever you were going to watch on Netflix, clear it. This is some juicy stuff.
