Cal Poly radio station KCPR (93.1 FM) is planning to move its transmitter to Cuesta Peak in order to improve its overall reception and expand listenership north of Cuesta Grade and as far south as Santa Maria.
The 35-year-old radio station is located on the Cal Poly campus and is run by an all-volunteer staff of Poly and Cuesta College students and faculty. Known for its eclectic programming, the station strives to provide its listeners with the widest variety of musical choices available on the Central Coast. According to co-business manager Erin Conlin, the station’s sound reaches far beyond the ears of college students, which is why they “try to offer something for everyone.”
An on-air auction fund-raiser will take place from Nov. 14-18, to help pay for basic operating costs and the transmitter move. For more info about the auction or to find out more about KCPR go to www.kcpr.org.
