Get the kids hooked

Relax by the lake and teach the kids how to fish at Santa Margarita Lake Regional Park. The park hosts its final free fishing clinic for children Saturday. Contests, raffles, free food, and fishing goods are all provided. Bring a tackle; bait is provided.

• Santa Margarita Lake's free fishing clinic runs 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25. Park entrance fee is $6 per car. For more information, call 788-2415.



The Center parties

The Clark Center Performing Arts Association invites the public to see a new play and free open house on Saturday. The open house includes free public tours led by docents, art viewings, backstage sneak peeks, door prizes, ticket giveaways, and ice cream. Afterward, Richard Sheldon presents "The World of Gilbert
and Sullivan," the first show in the Clark Center's Third Anniversary Season. It includes selections from "The Mikado," "HMS Pinafore," and "The Pirates of Penzance."

• The free open house begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25. "The World of Gilbert and Sullivan" starts at 8 p.m.; tickets are $25-$39.50. The Clark Center is located at 487 Fair Oaks Ave. in Arroyo Grande. For more information, call: 489-9444.



 

Jam with Jimi

Internationally recognized musician Jimi Macon performs at the Dr. King Sharing the Dream fund-raiser Saturday. He will jam with local musicians Louie Ortega, Guy Budd, and Shival. Macon, a Morro Bay resident, was the original guitarist for the Gap Band and has performed with James Brown, Natalie Cole, The Temptations, and others.

• The Dr. King Sharing the Dream fund-raiser is 12-3 p.m. at 1615 Tiffany Ranch in SLO wine country. A $10 donation is suggested; bring low-back chairs, picnic lunches, and beverages. For more information, call 784-9410.
