 The defense of our nation is a vital task, without which none of our many freedoms would be possible. Armed Forces Day (May 21) and Memorial Day (May 30) give us an excellent opportunity to honor those who defended us and those who are now doing so.
Media organizations and veterans’ groups usually do a good job of directing public attention to these holidays. Those of us who were fortunate enough to come home from past wars, and our families, much appreciate this attention.
I think this year we have a valuable opportunity to focus attention on some great Americans who have been vital to our warriors past and present: those who back up the armed forces – our wives, families, and loved ones.
Tribute is due to these at-home supporters. Let us provide it.
