On Inauguration Day this year drums will be muffled, black ribbons unfurled, and flags will be at half-mast to honor the passing of former President Jimmy Carter. That day could also be considered a day of mourning for democracy, for that will be the day that formerly impeached, convicted felon, draft-dodger, con artist, and yet unregistered sex-offender Donald J. Trump will once again pledge to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. It is not expected that he will do any better this time than the last, and his pledge will most likely be yet another in a burgeoning list of big lies! God save us all, and God save the United States of America.
