I would like to posit the question to my fellow countrymen: Who are we now?

We have certainly changed from the people who embraced the inspiring words on the Statue of Liberty: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”

On May 4 this year, President Trump signed an order to routinely separate children from their parents, who are crossing our borders in the attempt to be free of violence and poverty.

How many photos of crying children and parents do we have to look at to be moved as human beings? This policy simply must not be supported in a “Christian nation!”

I repeat: Who are we now?

Answer this question by informing yourself and by voting for officials and the party (Democratic) that most supports the humane treatment of all human beings.

  1. I agree with Debbie and want to remind everyone that we have a local example of inhumanity to consider in our voting. I can’t imagine the inhumanity of taking children from their parents, but Sheriff Parkinson is responsible for the brutal and degrading treatment unto death of a local mentally ill man . Please vote for Greg Clayton for Sheriff so that we can rid our county of this disgrace.

  2. It’s easy to ridicule others while not actually having a solution yourself. Are you suggesting that the US should take in all people who choose to cross our border illegally? I understand that everyone and especially children should be treated humanely but what’s your solution to this very complex problem?

The Democratic party has created a corrupt and broken system in California with the highest poverty rate in the nation and the lowest quality of life and you want us to vote for Democrats!
