Yes, Holly, the Earth is warming (“Stop being selfish; make a change for the planet,” July 12), but it is not as drastic as you make it out to be. Many people think last month was the hottest ever, but temperatures in June were ranked 14th compared to Junes for the past 100 years. The period of 1912 to 1936 had six Junes that were warmer.
Ed. note: I saw figures that indicated this past June was the fourth warmest since records started in 1880, but different sources use different bases for their figures.
